FreeGait is a wearable technology/exoskeleton system that enables individuals who cannot use their legs or who have weakness to stand up, walk and go up and down stairs.

With its advanced motors, sensors and intuitive software in the hip and knee joints, it encourages individuals to stand and walk indoors and outdoors. Contrary to walking systems with treadmills and rope hangers, it allows walking on a natural, real ground. Thanks to FreeGait, individuals learn to transfer weight correctly while walking and to re-apply the gait pattern correctly. It can be used in both acute and chronic phases of rehabilitation.

Who is FreeGait suitable for?

In patients with traumatic brain injury, hemiplegia (who can use only one arm), MS, who cannot use their legs due to neurological conditions, who have trouble in trunk control. It is suitable for patients with complete spinal cord injury between L5-T3 or patients with spinal cord injury between T3-C7 levels and with adequate motor function in their arms.

Indications:

Conditions that must be met by the person to use the device:

• Hands and shoulders should be supported by walkers or crutches.
• No risk of osteoporosis
• Good general health
• Height should be between 145-190cm, weight should not exceed 100kg

Contraindications:

• Those with severe medical conditions; have serious conditions related to infection, circulation, or respiratory tract
• pressure sore
• With extreme spasticity ( Ashworth 4)
• Those whose spine is unstabilized, unhealed leg or pelvic fracture
• heterotopic ossification
• with contracture
• Inadequate cognitive status for device use
• It is not suitable for use in pregnant women.
