The foundations of BTM, Turkey's leading insulation company, headquartered in Izmir, were laid in Istanbul in 1975 by the Turkish Şişe Cam Group. Since 1986, it has been increasing its activities with new and technological investments in its production facilities in İzmir/Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone. It has a total of 5 facilities where waterproofing, thermal insulation and roofing materials are produced. Polpan KZ, one of the BTM Group companies, is a facility operating in Kazakhstan where thermal insulation boards and waterproofing products are produced.

Breaking new ground in Turkey, BTM clinched its leading position in the insulation sector by producing the polymer bituminous waterproofing membrane in 1989, the closed-pore XPS thermal insulation board in 1994, and the roofing material Shingle in 1996 for the first time. In 2007, it started the production of synthetic cover under the brand Polyplan.

Developing its own technology and products, taking into account the changing market and competition conditions in the world; BTM, which invests in its engineering power and laboratory infrastructure in this field, and carries out joint projects with domestic and foreign research institutions and universities, takes the insulation sector one step further in the world of technology with the firsts it has created.

In 1999, according to TS EN 45001 Accreditation Standard, by establishing a Quality Management System in the Quality Control and R&D Laboratory, it received the title of the first certified laboratory in its sector. In 2002, with the conversion of the TS EN 45001 standard to the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard, the Laboratory Quality System was revised and it still serves the sector with 41 different tests required for insulation products.
