Our company was established on September 12, 2008 with the title of Guinea pig Experimental Animals Laboratory Joint Stock Company.
Veterinarian A.Begüm Buğdaycı Açıkkol, one of our founding members and Chairman of the Board of Directors, graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 with a third degree. He continues his doctorate program as a special student in Microbiology USA at the same university.
The project, which aims to meet the need for healthy experimental animals in our country, won the first prize among 750 projects by participating in the business idea competition organized in partnership with Bilkent University, Cyberpark, GYİAD, Akbank and Lab x. The business idea has become a reality with the investment power provided by the businessmen who support the idea of "Healthy production with healthy experimental animals, healthy experimental animals with healthy experiments, healthy experiments with healthy results".
Our laboratory has received the Working License from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on 06.03.2009 and became the first and only experimental animal production laboratory in Turkey. In the production process, which started by importing four different species from foreign reference laboratories, our laboratory continues to produce ten different experimental animals, including SPF and Conventional experimental animals.
Guinea pig Experimental Animals Laboratory focused on research and development activities by doubling its investments with the support of Tübitak SME R&D programs. The R&D department was established in our laboratory and for the first time in Turkey, the "Local Ethics Committee", which is affiliated to the Central Ethics Committee, was granted permission for the researchers to carry out their studies. Thus, the Guinea Pig Experimental Animals Laboratory Local Ethics Committee was established. In this way, in addition to the research and development projects carried out by our company in our R&D Laboratory, other researchers have been enabled to operate. This situation is of great importance for the research and development studies that are being done and will be done in our country.
The Guinea Pig Laboratory also contributes to the sector in terms of education with the "Experimental Animal Use Certificate Training Programs" and "Surgical Training Programs" organized by the Local Ethics Committee.
