Zinc is a remarkable metal with its low boiling temperature. This value is a very decisive factor especially in pyrometallurgical metal production. It is hard and brittle when poured. It can be shaped at 120 °C. It is more negative than iron in the electrochemical potential series. Thus, zinc finds an important use in cathodic corrosion protection as an anode. Galvanizing is one such application.
