Historic agreements were signed at the Eurosatory Fair, one of the world's most prestigious defense industry fairs held in Paris, the capital of France, to build a bridge between Turkey and Spain in the fields of defense and aerospace. At the signing ceremonies held at the stand of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defense Industry Directorate (SSB), a decision was made to cooperate on the "IDA Defense and Aerospace Industrial Cooperation Days," which will strengthen industrial partnership between the two countries.
The ceremony, attended by Gökhan Uçar, Deputy Head of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defence Industry Directorate, as an observer, took place at the SSB (Defense Industry Directorate) stand with a large turnout. The agreements form the basis for major events to be held in Ankara and Valencia in the coming period.
As part of the ceremony, the first protocol was signed between the leading institutions responsible for organizing the event. With the signatures of Erdal Usta, General Manager of NGF Fuarcılık A.Ş., and Mariano Clemente, General Manager of Feria Valencia, the aim is to combine the exhibition and event organization expertise of both countries.
Memorandum of Understanding for a Technology and Co-production Bridge
The second protocol of the day was a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at taking regional and sectoral cooperation to the highest level. This strategic agreement was signed between Ibrahim Yarsan, Chairman of the Board of OSSA, and Felipe Carrasco, Deputy Minister of Industry and Government Secretary of the Valencian Government. The agreement aims to accelerate the integration of defense SMEs and main industry manufacturers of the two countries.
OSSA President Ibrahim Yarsan made the following remarks regarding the memorandum of understanding: "This memorandum of understanding, signed with the Valencia Regional Government on a global platform like Eurosatory, is a very important link in OSSA's strategy to increase its effectiveness in international markets. Our aim is to integrate the high production capabilities of our SMEs more dynamically with Spanish main industry manufacturers and the global supply chain. This signing, which took place under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defence Industry Directorate, will establish not only a commercial link but also a long-term technology and joint production bridge between the two countries."
"We will see the first strong reflection of this shared will at our 'IDA Turkey' event, which we will hold in our capital city between October 14-16, 2026. After hosting the giants of the sector in Ankara, we will carry this synergy to Valencia in September 2027 without interruption. We believe that these agreements we signed in Paris will directly contribute to the export potential of our member companies, and we wish this great cooperation to be beneficial for our country and our sector."
A Shared Vision for Ankara 2026 and Valencia 2027
Under the signed protocols, the parties strongly emphasized their intention to cooperate on two major organizations that will bring together the defense and aerospace sectors. The first major fruit of this cooperation will be the "IDA Turkey Defense and Aerospace Industrial Cooperation Days," to be held in Ankara from October 14-16, 2026. The second phase of this strategic partnership will continue with the "IDA Spain Defense and Aerospace Cooperation Days," to be held in Valencia from September 22-24, 2027.
These agreements signed in Paris once again demonstrate the commitment of both countries to increasing the market share of their defense and aerospace ecosystems and enhancing technology transfer and joint production capabilities.
