With the start of the tree planting season, afforestation efforts have also accelerated in OSTİM. In the vacant areas of the Ostim Technopark technology development zone, 3,000 saplings were planted through a collaboration between OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, Ostim Technopark Inc., and OSTİM Technical University.
The Tree Planting Festival was organized with the participation of OSTİM executives, business people, and employees.
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın stated that the area where the trees were planted is a technology development zone, and that as the trees grow, the technology development zone will be located within the forest.
Aydın noted that afforestation efforts would continue in the region throughout the winter, emphasizing that they would transform the area into a forest with the contributions of the General Directorate of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.
Aydın stated that OSTİM Technical University's development area is located next to the technology development zone, adding, "The university, together with the technology development zone, will become an important center for OSTİM, Ankara, and Turkey." Aydın also thanked those who contributed to the afforestation efforts.
OSTİM will have its own forest
OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı emphasized that with the program they started in 2002, they aim to plant trees in all green areas in OSTİM and integrate them into daily life.
Reminding that they had previously carried out reforestation efforts in the same area, Arıcı said, “It's not enough to just plant them; we need to keep them alive. From now on, all our efforts will be focused on keeping these trees alive, aiming to grow our own forest in the region.”
OSTİM Deputy Chairman of the Board Sıtkı Öztuna wished the afforestation effort to be successful, emphasizing that keeping the trees alive is as important as planting them. Expressing his belief that the afforestation of the region would provide OSTİM with a beautiful green area, Öztuna also offered prayers for all the deceased members of OSTİM who founded and worked for its development.
OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek pointed out that technology development zones are located within green areas all over the world. Stating that green areas should be increased further, Yülek emphasized that green areas correct the mistakes humans make towards nature and thanked those who contributed to this effort.
Ostim Technopark General Manager Dr. Derya Çağlar stated that they wanted to carry out sustainable, environmentally friendly work and that projects undertaken in a green area would leave a much greater legacy for the future.
