OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın, together with the HTK Board of Directors, visited the Rector of METU, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil. The delegation congratulated Rector Yozgatlıgil on his appointment and exchanged views on developing collaborations between METU, OSTİM, and HTK.
HTK Chairman Mustafa Yaman highlighted the importance of national technologies in communication infrastructure and described the capabilities of HTK members in developing communication technologies. Emphasizing that HTK, with over 160 members, is internationally competitive in communication technologies, Yaman noted that they closely follow the work of public institutions in the field of national communication technologies.
HTK has the opportunity to implement 5G.
METU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil expressed his satisfaction with the visit and stated that they are ready to work to develop collaborations with OSTİM and HTK.
Rector Yozgatlıgil stated that they aim to renovate all of METU's infrastructure and centers, especially its laboratories, and added, "At METU, we aim to implement applications alongside R&D in fields such as smart transportation, the Internet of Things (IoT), and communication technologies. We want to establish a 5G network on our campus. By developing our collaborations, we will provide HTK members with the opportunity to implement their products on the 5G network. At the same time, our academics and researchers can easily carry out their studies on developing these technologies."
Yozgatlıgil pointed out that the METU campus has a population of nearly 45,000 people during peak hours, and said that campus transportation, sports events at the stadium, etc., are areas where 5G technologies can be applied.
