OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın was a live guest on the "SMEs Talk" program on CNBC-e TV. Aydın shared his assessments regarding SMEs in 2024.
Speaking about the work being done in OSTİM, President Aydın said: “We are making a very intensive effort to increase the competitiveness of the companies in our region, especially to increase their exports.”
Aydın stated that SMEs are experiencing problems accessing finance, saying, "Banking transactions are not as easy as they used to be. SMEs cannot easily access credit because interest rates are high."
Aydın also mentioned the impact of market uncertainties, stating, "There is instability in prices. When setting prices, there is a problem of uncertainty in calculating inflation and exchange rates. When all these come together, it becomes difficult for our SMEs to do business."
Drawing attention to the shortage of qualified personnel, President Aydın emphasized the need to understand the importance of production. Explaining that OSTİM SMEs are making great efforts to increase their competitiveness and exports, President Aydın stated, "Our Ministry of Trade provides significant support to SMEs, especially in R&D projects. KOSGEB's support is also very meaningful."
