Meeting with industrialists in OSTİM, Evgeny Lipen, the Trade and Economic Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ankara, pointed to Turkey's experience in establishing industrial zones and said, "We have a project to establish a Turkish industrial zone. We want to transfer Turkey's experience in establishing industrial zones."
Evgeny Lipen, the Trade and Economic Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ankara, explained the business opportunities offered by his country to OSTİM companies. The visiting diplomat also received information about the ongoing activities and projects in OSTİM.
Lipen, recalling that diplomatic relations between Turkey and Belarus began in 1992, stated that the trade volume between the two countries reached $629.7 million in 2015. Underlining that they have an export-oriented economy, Evgeny Lipen said, “Industry is the cornerstone of our economy. 35% of our Gross National Product comes from industry.”
Doors are open for cooperation
Lipen stated that Turkish companies are well-received in Belarus and explained that they are working on industrial zones and examining many models. Pointing to the success of industrial zones in Turkey, Evgeny Lipen said, “We want to transfer Turkey’s experience in establishing industrial zones. The establishment of a Turkish industrial zone in the Mogilev and Grodnoinvest Free Economic Zones operating in Belarus is also being discussed at the government level.”
The Belarusian representative emphasized that the planned industrial zone for Turkish companies would offer special advantages, noting that Turkish firms would be provided with a management center, facilities during the setup phase, and support with machinery and equipment. Lipen listed the sectors in which they expect investment from Turkey as: the timber industry, textiles, ready-made clothing, construction equipment, and logistics.
Lipen stated that they are always open to cooperation with Turkish companies, saying, “You can see our Embassy’s Trade and Economic Affairs Department as a gateway to Belarus. We will follow and support your investment projects from start to finish.”
Lipen emphasized that products manufactured in his country are treated as domestic products in the Russian market, and stated, "We want not only to attract investors but also to showcase the market. Turkish companies can access the Eurasian Economic Union market from our country."
