In an event organized by SERÇEV as part of the ‘Having Cerebral Palsy Doesn’t Prevent Me from Having a Profession’ project, supported by the European Union, nearly 50 young people with disabilities had the opportunity to have one-on-one job interviews with businessmen and managers from OSTİM. The young people impressed the businessmen with their education and talents.
The program began with a panel discussion examining incentives and support for employing people with disabilities. The young participants then visited company booths, presented their resumes to industrialists, introduced themselves, and conducted internship and job interviews.
SERÇEV Projects Coordinator İbrahim Arslan noted that the project, for the first time in our country, is preparing the infrastructure for technology-supported vocational training aimed at enabling children with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities to acquire a profession.
Veli Sarıtoprak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Foundation, emphasized the importance of the event and the employment of disabled youth, stating, “I am with you, I will provide all kinds of support. Today is the day to take responsibility.”
“When you believe in children, they can do anything.”
Serçev Vice President Gülnihal Emiroğlu stated that they aim to empower children to become humane, dignified, self-sufficient, and free individuals, enabling them to live integrated lives within society. Reminding that employment is the fundamental basis for this, Emiroğlu said, “We believe we can achieve this if we offer them job opportunities and enable them to gain economic independence as free individuals. We believe that when you believe in what children can do and provide them with accessible opportunities, they can do anything. All our projects come to life with this belief.”
“We will do whatever is necessary.”
OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Orhan Aydın said, “We promised these brothers and sisters that we would help them increase awareness and show what our industrialists can do in our region. We stand behind that promise.” Thanking the OSTİM Medical Industry Cluster Board of Directors for embracing the initiative, Chairman Aydın expressed his belief that positive developments would result. Aydın concluded by saying, “We will involve other OSTİM companies in this project and do everything in our power to help these brothers and sisters integrate into the workforce. We will stand by SERÇEV.”
“Our government is with you”
Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of EU Affairs, stated that they participate in a wide variety of organizations together with the European Union. Bayraktaroğlu said, “However, this is one of the most exciting meetings for me. I am very sensitive to children's issues; I am here to express that our state and I are with you. Our state will continue to support you in every platform and in every field. Many projects are organized with EU support. We also try to support these projects as much as we can. But very few projects are implemented. My request to the association managers is that we need to do more projects. Let's support you in this regard. Let's do better things together. I am here only to support you, and I want you to know that I am always by your side.”
