The second meeting focusing on steel structures in durable housing production was also held at OSTİM.
The meeting was attended by executives from OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, OSTİM Technical University, OSTİM Investment, Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD), Turkish Structural Steel Association (TUCSA), Anatolian Rail Transportation Systems Cluster (ARUS), Karçel A.Ş., Meksis A.Ş., Orka Mekatronik, Prefi Prefabrik Yapı, Consera, Oruçoğlu Holding, and Probe Engineering.
OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın thanked the meeting participants. Emphasizing that OSTİM firms have significant capacity in the production of steel parts, Aydın stated: “We need to develop new solution proposals regarding the construction of these houses, which the country needs, as a model and present them in a file to the relevant institutions and organizations.”
Yener Gür’eş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TUCSA, drew attention to the increasing demand for steel-framed housing. Gür’eş warned, “Be careful, if demand increases so much suddenly and everyone tries to do this business, we might do harm while trying to do good. The annual steel housing production capacity is 75,000 units. Steel structures must be used. Proper steel structures should be built in accordance with rules and standards.”
At the meeting, Melih Şimşek, Chairman of the Board of Consera, a company operating in the steel structure sector, gave a presentation on permanent housing solutions. Şimşek noted that safe housing could be produced in Adana using modular steel structures and directed to the earthquake zone, making a significant contribution to the regional economy.
Celalettin Oruç, Chairman of the Board of Oruçoğlu Holding, stated in his presentation that they have developed a project to produce housing units that meet TOKİ's requirements in a short time using both concrete and steel, but they need a company to produce the steel parts.
Volkan Bakır, founder of Probe Engineering, gave a presentation on Modular System Structures. He explained that they plan to prepare standard designs and provide them free of charge to municipalities and aid organizations.
Thermo Natural company officials, in their presentation titled "Wall Strengthening System and Energy Efficiency Studies in Earthquake Safety," pointed out that the insulation material they developed provides protection against fire while isolating against heat, sound, and other effects.
