OSTİM Technical University's first students started classes in the 2019-2020 academic year. On their first day of classes, the students were welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Orhan Aydın, and the Rector, Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek.
Orhan Aydın and Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek, who presented the students with OSTİM Technical University badges, chatted with them, talked about the work they would do together at the university, and wished them success.
Students, excited to meet the academic staff and educational program, stated that they would build a secure career due to their close ties with the business world, and shared their reasons for choosing the program and their expectations with OSTİM Newspaper.
Mustafa Aydın/Electronics Technology Department: I found the school's interior and facilities excellent. I had previously attended other universities, but this one is better. Being near the metro is a huge advantage. I chose OSTİM Technical University because I live in Ankara. The board of trustees is very strong, which influenced my decision. The fact that there is practical training one day a week also appealed to me. I want to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. I want to specialize in circuits and software.
Erdoğan Ulucak/Logistics Department: OSTİM Technical University gave me a sense of relief compared to the others. It's a newly opened, private university. My family knew its founders. I live in Ankara, so it's conveniently located. My goal is to get the best.
Emre Kalafat/Logistics Department: I'm from Bursa. I researched OSTİM Technical University. I thought I would be more comfortable there because I have acquaintances in Ankara. I also looked into other universities. I chose OSTİM Technical University because it's a new university and my department offers scholarships. The atmosphere at our school is warm and welcoming.
Yiğit Serhat Yıldırım/Logistics Department: I came for the introductory presentation. I liked what they promised. The fact that it prepares you for professional life; not just in terms of knowledge but also in practice, and that it's within the industry is important. The departments we study are generally compatible with the field; and they are present in the industry. Regarding job opportunities, I looked at the school's Board of Trustees. They are all generally industrialists; names that have achieved good positions in the business world. My goal after graduation is to advance in the field I studied, complete a bachelor's program, and pursue a career in civil aviation management.
Hilal Aksever/Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department: I graduated from Ankara Tevfik İleri Anatolian Imam Hatip High School. OSTİM Technical University's promises were very good; this drew us to the school. After doing some research and getting expert opinions, we came here because we hoped that this would be a good university in the future. I want to graduate as a qualified and sought-after professional, especially to work in the defense industry.
Kevser Çolak/Department of Mechanical Engineering: OSTİM Technical University has presented itself very well. Our high school teachers also constantly told us that OSTİM Technical University seemed very strong and recommended it. We chose it together with our friends. We started classes. Our professors are very good and speak very good English. We like our school. I hope the agreements with institutions like Havelsan and Aselsan continue. Hopefully, we will work there when we graduate.
Aslıhan Yıldırım/Computer Engineering Department: I chose OSTİM Technical University because I thought it offered many domestic and international opportunities due to its location within the industry. The possibility of receiving a scholarship was also a factor. I chose this university because of the opportunity to become a 'new graduate with 4 years of experience' as stated in the university's promotional material, which would allow me to find a job sooner.
İhsan Gürbüz/Information Security Technology Department: I reviewed the academic staff and trusted the professors. I chose OSTİM Technical University because I believe I will have a good career there. When I graduate, I want to become an entrepreneur and start a company.
Vasfi Ölmez/Information Security Technology Department: I was drawn to OSTİM Technical University's job opportunities and academic staff. After graduation, I want to complete a four-year computer engineering program. After that, I dream of working for a good company.
Fatih Ertürk/Computer Engineering Department: I chose OSTİM Technical University because of its close integration and collaboration with industry. I chose this university because it will carry out applications geared towards our future and teach us more technical knowledge. My expectation is to continue my education abroad with the English-language education I receive here and contribute something beneficial to our country again.
Buse Utku/International Trade and Finance Department: My teacher initially recommended OSTİM Technical University, and then I researched the school's facilities. The practical training, the institutions it collaborates with, and the fact that our Rector, Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek, is part of our department's academic staff, all appealed to me. My goal is to work abroad. I also believe our university has a higher potential for international expansion compared to other universities. I want to work in the foreign trade departments of large companies operating internationally.
Fatih Doğru/Computer Engineering Department: I was drawn to OSTİM Technical University because it is newly established in Ankara and because of the institutions and companies it collaborates with. I believe that internship and job opportunities will arise in these institutions and companies. I would like to work in one of them after graduation.
