The summer school program, organized under the leadership of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone and OSTİM Foundation, is having a full second year. Children are both having fun and learning at the summer school. Students who learn 3D design can use the products they design in coding.
The summer school program, initiated last year by the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate and the OSTİM Foundation, has been reorganized this year with a rich array of educational and social activities. Held in collaboration with Yumak Study Center, the summer school provides 25 students aged 7-14 – children of OSTİM employers, employees, and OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone personnel – with 15 days of learning through fun.
Students from OSTİM are participating in a summer school that aims to instill a sense of production awareness and a love of production in future generations. They receive training in coding, English, swimming, folk dances, drama, and classical music from expert educators. They also receive 3D design training from the Information Technology Garage Academy instructors, gaining the ability to design their dreams.
By developing the skills they will need in the future through coding education, students are preparing for the new world by learning computer languages.
The summer school also organizes various activities to improve students' social skills. Children spend their summer vacation having fun and learning through picnics and museum visits.
“Learning by Seeing is Lasting”
Figen Çörtü, Founder of Yumak Study Center and Education Sciences Specialist, stated that they had a pleasant time at the summer school they planned together with OSTİM. Explaining that they also provided English lessons every day in addition to daily educational programs, Çörtü said, “We organize programs aimed at making our students love production. We planned trips to industrial and production facilities. Because learning by seeing is very different, very lasting. When the employees at the workbench explain how a product is made, the children's perspective changes.”
They are learning 3D design
Sevgi Yıldırım, an instructor at the Informatics Garage Academy, explained that they teach students how to create 3D designs on computers. Yıldırım continued: “Our slogan is: Think, imagine, design, create. We can print these creations using 3D printers. We can use the products we design with the children in coding. Actually, all our trainings are interconnected. That's our main goal. In coding education, we guide students towards solving simple problems related to daily life.”
