Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, along with municipal bureaucrats, met with the managers of 13 Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs) operating throughout the capital city. The meeting was attended by Seyit Ardıç, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Organized Industrial Zones (OSBÜK); Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM; Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek, Rector of OSTİM Technical University; Mehmet Niyazi Akdaş, President of the 1st OSB; Mete Çağlayan, Deputy President of the 2nd and 3rd OSBs; and the presidents of Ankara İvedik, Anadolu, Ankara Dökümcüler, Çubuk Livestock Specialization, Başkent, and Elmadağ Furniture Specialization OSBs.
During the meeting, issues related to improving employment in Ankara, increasing industrial production, and demands concerning Organized Industrial Zones were discussed.
Listening to the demands of the industrialists and stating that they would provide all kinds of support, Mayor Yavaş emphasized that they were ready to cooperate for the development of Ankara's industry and the increase in employment, saying, "We want to prioritize projects that increase investment and workforce participation in Ankara. We aspire to sign joint projects with our industrialists."
Asphalt mobilization
Mayor Yavaş, explaining that they launched a significant asphalt paving campaign in the capital during the curfews imposed during the pandemic, made the following assessments: “A large amount of asphalt was laid in areas such as OSTİM, İvedik, and Siteler. Our revenues have decreased by nearly 70%. In contrast, we received no deferral on energy or electricity payments. The municipality's revenues decreased, but they never stopped its expenses. Despite all this, we are continuing our asphalt paving work.”
