The OSTİM delegation, which traveled to Kazakhstan for the Turkish-Kazakh Business Forum held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, inaugurated its Liaison Office in the Ontustik Free Industrial Zone. The delegation included OSTİM Chairman of the Board Orhan Aydın, OSTİM Foundation Director Gülnaz Karaosmanoğlu, OSTİM Rubber Technologies Cluster Coordinator Dr. Kayhan Olanca, and OSTİM Investment Inc. General Manager Abdullah Çörtü.
At the opening session of the event, which began on February 1st, OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın gave a speech. He stated that Ankara, due to being the capital city, initially had a bureaucratic city identity, and that OSTİM, as a region formed by small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs, contributed to the industrialization of Ankara.
“Our eyes and ears are always on this place”
Orhan Aydın, also pointing to the region's entrepreneurial spirit, said, "SMEs that grew in OSTİM have moved to the eight Organized Industrial Zones in Ankara."
Referring to OSTİM's past and present contacts with Kazakhstan, Chairman Aydın stated: “Our eyes and ears are always on this region. We have come and gone many times; and we will continue to do so. But this time, we wanted to make things concrete. Given the active role of our esteemed Governor Canseyit Tuymebayev here, we, as OSTİM, have planned to open an office together with the organized industrial zones management, God willing. We have even written our sign and brought it with us. Our goal and objective is this: an office will be allocated to us here. We will write ‘Hoca Ahmet Yesevi OSTİM Office’ on this office. We planned our sign like this: when read vertically, it spells ‘HAY’; ‘HAY OSTİM’. We will not only open one side of this, but also another in our own Organized Industrial Zone Directorate building, as a counterpart in the same region. There will be one there and one here.”
Stating that they would make the necessary efforts to develop collaborations between the two offices, Orhan Aydın said, “This place has a meaning for us that goes beyond economic relations. We live with the spiritual inspiration of the great people here. In the city where I live, there are dozens, even hundreds, of village names belonging to this geography.”
Aydın was presented with a medal.
At the Turkish-Kazakh Business Forum, OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın was also presented with a medal by the Governor of South Kazakhstan Province, Canseyit Tuymebayev, for his contributions to the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Following the forum, the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi HAY OSTİM Office was inaugurated on the second day. The office, a new address for Turkish businesspeople in Kazakhstan, is located in the Ontustik Free Industrial Zone in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The opening ceremony was attended by regional and OSTİM executives.
