OSTİM OSB Regional Directorate continues technological transformations in distribution centers and transformers within the scope of its electricity operations. By converting medium voltage (MV) cells to modular type, problems that may cause malfunctions and outages will be detected in advance, preventing unplanned outages and MV failures.

The Solar Power Plant Project, one of the four projects approved under OSTİM's World Bank-financed Organized Industrial Zones Project in Turkey, will also contribute to a clean and uninterrupted electricity supply in the region. Upon completion of the project, OSTİM's installed solar power capacity will reach 5 MW.

OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate continues to invest in infrastructure in line with evolving technologies and needs in order to maintain high-quality, continuous, and uninterrupted electricity service for its members.

OSTİM, which commissioned its SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) center in 2019, continues its technological transformations in distribution centers and transformers within the scope of its electricity operations. In line with evolving technology and needs, overhead lines are being replaced with underground lines, while transformer facilities for newly developing areas are being constructed as MV modular cells in accordance with evolving technology.

As a result of the ongoing conversion of open-source medium-voltage switchgear cells to a modular type, the SCADA system will cover the entire distribution network. When the work is completed, problems that may cause faults and interruptions will be detected in advance, preventing unplanned outages and medium-voltage faults.

Thanks to the system software, the network will be monitored remotely via distribution automation, ensuring fast and efficient control and continuing to provide subscribers with more reliable, continuous, and high-quality electricity.

Installed solar power capacity increases to 5 MW

The Solar Power Plant Project, one of the four projects approved under the World Bank-funded Organized Industrial Zones of Turkey Project for OSTİM Organized Industrial Zones, will also contribute to OSTİM's clean and uninterrupted electricity supply.

With this project, the planned 2 MW solar power plant to be established in OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, together with the solar power plants established by industrialists in the region, will bring the total installed solar power capacity to 5 MW.

According to the revised zoning plan for OSTİM, the total annual electricity production capacity of solar power plants installed on the roofs of companies is 4 million kWh. With the 2 MW plant to be built on the parking areas as part of a World Bank project, an additional 3.5 million kWh of electricity will be generated annually from renewable sources. Thus, OSTİM's total annual electricity production capacity from renewable energy sources will reach 7.5 million kWh.

These investments will prevent energy costs from rising for industrialists in OSTİM, while also contributing to the clean production requirement of the EU Green Deal.

Carbon zero target projects

OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager, Architect Adem Arıcı, emphasized the importance of uninterrupted, high-quality, and affordable electricity in production, noting that they are working to provide the best services to OSTİM members under the most favorable conditions.

Arıcı emphasized that OSTİM develops projects to contribute to the production capacity and competitiveness of industrialists with its strong electrical infrastructure and supporting services, stating, “Our goal is to implement projects that will increase the production and competitiveness of OSTİM industrialists. We support our industrialists in continuing their production by preparing them for the changing conditions of world trade. Along with awareness-raising activities regarding the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism, which will come into effect in 2026 within the framework of the EU Green Deal, we are carrying out studies that will include our members on increasing clean energy capacity and energy efficiency.”

Adem Arıcı, explaining that they are continuing their efforts towards clean production and energy efficiency with the goal of carbon zero, said: “With the LED conversion of street lighting that we completed with the World Bank-financed Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project, we replaced the traditional 250W luminaires with 100W LED technology luminaires. We anticipate a total annual saving of 500,000 kWh. This conversion also corresponds to the amount of carbon that 10,000 mature trees would absorb in a year. In this way, we will prevent 280 tons of carbon emissions annually. Similarly, with our solar power plant project, we will get even closer to the carbon zero goal.”
