Within the scope of the Expert Exchange Program initiated by KOSGEB through a memorandum of understanding signed with its counterpart institution in Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Entrepreneurship Development Fund (DAMU), two managerial personnel from DAMU came to Turkey to share their experiences.
As part of a program organized by the KOSGEB OSTİM Center, Kazakhstani executives visited the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate.
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın provided information about the history of relations with Kazakhstan. He explained that they have prepared a project for the Organized Industrial Zone in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, regarding the transfer of the OSTİM model. He also highlighted the opening of the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi (HAY) OSTİM liaison office in the Ontustik Organized Industrial Zone, and the existence of a HAY Ontustik liaison office within OSTİM itself, serving the same mission. Aydın stated that they continue to develop and maintain their collaborations through these HAY liaison offices.
OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı also provided the Kazakh executives with information about the region. Arıcı stated that life continues uninterrupted in OSTİM and described the area as an industrial city.
Adem Arıcı explained that they developed a regional and sectoral clustering model to improve international competitiveness. Arıcı emphasized that there are clustering efforts in OSTİM in the sectors of construction and industrial machinery, defense and aerospace, medical industry, rail systems, rubber, and communication technologies.
Temirlan Amreyev, DAMU's Director of Entrepreneurship Development, also provided information about DAMU. He explained that the organization was founded in 1997 to support SMEs, and that they provide financial support to SMEs and entrepreneurs through bank loans. The Kazakh executive also noted that they offer training, consulting, and credit guarantee services to SMEs.
