“OSTİM is the right address for industrial cooperation”
The Chairman of the National Education Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and Ankara Member of Parliament, Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler, reminded that Turkey's ancestral homeland is the Central Asian geography, primarily Uzbekistan.
Highlighting the development of relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan, İşler said, “We will reap the rewards of this partnership, which began under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in the future. I see Uzbekistan making a leap forward in the coming years. Turkey has experience in many areas. One of them is industry. OSTİM, one of the oldest Organized Industrial Zones, and OSTİM Technical University are the right addresses for industrial cooperation.”
“Unity is strength, we need to support each other”
Noting that OSTİM Technical University's distinguishing feature is its focus on training students through hands-on education within the industry, Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler expressed the following views: “Turkey has become an attractive country for international students in recent years. We aim to increase the number of international students from around 200,000 to 500,000. Turkey has also made significant progress in the defense industry. Large companies like TUSAŞ, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, and ROKETSAN are located in Ankara, and collaborations in these areas are possible. If you want your students to become skilled technical experts, you can send them to OSTİM Technical University. Strength comes from unity. The 21st century will be the Turkish century; we need to support each other.”
Your representative in Ankara: OSTİM
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OSTİM Technical University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM, provided information about the region. He stated that OSTİM has more than 6300 SMEs, educational institutions from primary school to university, technoparks, and sectoral clusters under 7 different headings.
Stating that they have visited many countries around the world, Orhan Aydın emphasized that Uzbekistan holds a special place for them, saying: “The spiritual atmosphere here is something we long for. Both our business and spiritual visit will be the beginning of developing our relations. We value Uzbekistan. We want to fill the collaborations with substance. You also have a representation, an industrial consulate, in Ankara: OSTİM. Our office is open to you.”
“We are your university in Turkey”
OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek stated that, as a university of industry, they have cooperation agreements with various universities in Uzbekistan.
Emphasizing that OSTİM Technical University is an international university, Rector Yülek stated, “We have over 1000 international students. We have over 50 Uzbek students. We are also your university in Turkey. As a university, we can open a technical high school. Establishing a new university will not solve Uzbekistan's problems. What is important is training personnel with technical skills. The issue is not about giving diplomas. Our curriculum is very different. Ankara is an industrial city; we are the university of that city. We are one of IBM's five partners worldwide. We are close to these types of international companies. Emir Timur made Samarkand the center of the world. In the future, it can also be the center of industry.”
They will open a university in the industrial zone and train specialists.
Samarkand Governor Erkin Turdimov expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the OSTİM delegation. Pointing to Turkey's experience in many fields, Governor Turdimov said, "Turkey has impressed us; it is in a position to make its voice heard throughout the world. Therefore, Turkish experience is very necessary for us, and cooperation is very important."
Recalling Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's message to "keep Turkish brotherhood strong," Erkin Turdimov said that he was familiar with OSTİM's history and structure, and that they were working to establish an industrial zone like OSTİM in Samarkand.
Governor Turdimov, emphasizing the need for specialists to develop industrial zones, continued: “Our goal for 2030 is for 50% of our students to gain admission to university. We have 65,000 students in Samarkand. Our state university has over 35,000 students. Currently, we have few graduates from our technical university. We are opening factories, but we are not training specialists. We would be very pleased if OSTİM Technical University partnered with us. We want to train specialists by opening a technical university in an industrial zone. We are preparing specialists for the technical university at Samarkand State University. We will open Samarkand Technical University within two years. Our aim in establishing a university in the Urgut industrial zone is for students to learn the job and start working directly after graduation. We want to send our technical personnel to OSTİM to gain experience.”
