OSTİM Business and Construction Machinery Cluster (İŞİM) has started the third phase of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy International Competitiveness Development (URGE) Project. 30 companies will participate in the new URGE.
İŞİM held the opening meeting of its 3rd URGE Project, supported by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey. Having achieved successful results in its previous two projects, the cluster has made significant progress in its export capacity.
The opening of the 3rd URGE, titled ‘Construction and Industrial Machinery and Spare Parts’, with the participation of 30 companies, took place with the attendance of İŞİM Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Ziya Burhanettin Güvenç, Turkey Technology Development Foundation (TTGV) representatives Mahmut Kiper and Deniz Bayhan, İŞİM Coordinator Fevzi Gökalp, Foreign Trade Specialist Esma Akyüz, and company representatives.
The meeting covered the project's processes, including Needs Analysis, Training, International Marketing Programs, and Consulting Programs.
The first activity of the project, the Needs Analysis, will be carried out by TTGV. The details of the Needs Analysis were presented by Mahmut Kiper, Consultant for Technology and Innovation Strategies and R&D Project Support and Management at TTGV, and Senior Specialist Deniz Bayhan. In addition, data was collected from members through a survey method using a SWOT (Strength, Weight, and Environment) analysis.
The activities to be carried out within the scope of the project are as follows: Needs Analysis, Training Programs, Consulting Programs, International Market Visits, B2B Bilateral Business Meetings, Purchasing Delegations, and Individual Consulting.
EXPORTS ARE INCREASING SIGNIFICANTLY WITH URGE
The İŞİM cluster implemented two URGE Projects supported by the Turkish Ministry of Economy between 2011 and 2014, lasting a total of three years. The efficiency analysis conducted after these projects showed that the 38 companies participating in the URGE Projects increased their exports by a total of 121% and their turnover by 97%.
On the other hand, companies that had no exports before are now exporting to at least 3 countries. Companies that were already exporting saw a 94% increase in the number of export markets after 3 years. Furthermore, there was a 15% increase in the number of employees among the members.
