As part of a cooperation and visit program to Turkey coordinated by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the Uzbekistan Exporters Association made OSTİM one of its stops in Ankara.
A delegation of 15 businesspeople from the Uzbekistan Exporters Association received information about the OSTİM model and collaborations.
OSTİM is a regional development model
OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Director Adem Arıcı described the establishment and development processes of the zone and the work it is currently carrying out. Arıcı emphasized that as the Regional Directorate, they provide the services needed by more than 6,200 businesses operating in the zone from the public sector.
Adem Arıcı stated that companies in OSTİM operate in 17 main sectors and 139 business lines, and that there are 7 sectoral clusters in the region in the fields of construction and industrial machinery, defense and aerospace, medical, renewable energy, rail transportation systems, rubber technologies, and communication.
Arıcı pointed out that OSTİM houses all the organizations that support industry and production, and noted that the world's first industrial university is the OSTİM Technical University, established in the region. Arıcı said, "OSTİM is a regional development model."
Stating that the OSTİM model is in demand by many countries, Regional Manager Adem Arıcı mentioned that there is a request from Uzbekistan to establish a 230-hectare industrial zone near Tashkent using the OSTİM model.
“I am ready to dedicate my life to the OSTİM model”
Muhtor Umarov, the head of the Uzbekistan Exporters Association, noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the government want to implement Turkey's successful industrialization models and policies in their own country.
Muhtor Umarov, expressing that he found the OSTİM model very successful and was very impressed, said, “I am ready to dedicate my life to implementing the OSTİM model in Uzbekistan. I will personally explain OSTİM to our President. I will also discuss every detail with our Prime Minister. We are ready to provide all kinds of support for the cooperation between Turkish and Uzbek businessmen. There is a very strong demand for the OSTİM model in Uzbekistan.”
