MECHANICAL STRENGTH TESTS

Mechanıcal Strength Tests

  • TS 4772 EN ISO 2808 / TS 2311 EN ISO 2178 / TS 2674 EN ISO 2360
  • Determination of Film Thickness by Magnetic Method and Determination of Film Thickness by Eddy Current Method

MAGNETIC METHOD; This standard covers the non-destructive measurement of dry film thickness of non-magnetic coatings (including vitreous and enamel coatings) on magnetic metals. Magnetic-type coating thickness gauges measure the magnetic attraction between the base metal and a permanent magnet, affected by the presence of the coating, or fluctuations in magnetic flux through the coating and base metal.

EDDY CURRENT; This standard covers the non-destructive measurement of the coating thickness of insulating coatings on non-magnetic, conductive base materials (usually metal) using amplitude sensitive eddy current devices. An eddy current probe (or device with probe) is placed on the surface of the coating to be measured and the coating thickness is read from the device.

  • TS EN ISO 2409 / ASTM D3359
  • Cross Shear (Adhesion) Test

It covers the determination of the degree of adhesion of paint and varnish samples applied in single or multiple layers on metallic, wooden or soft surfaces with a total film thickness not exceeding 250 µm. Depending on the coating thickness, the coating resistance is determined on the surface that is drawn at certain intervals.

  • TS EN ISO 4624 / ASTM D 4541
  • Pull-Off (Adhesion) Test

It covers the determination of the degree of adhesion of paint and varnish samples with a total film thickness exceeding 250 µm, applied to metallic, wood or soft surfaces in single or multiple layers. Adhesion resistance is given as Mpa or Psi.

  • ASTM D3170 / SAE J 400 / ISO 20567-1
  • Stone-Chip Test

It is a test in which the coating strength of the coatings of organic coated test plates is measured with a certain amount of steel balls thrown over a certain pressure and time.

  •  TS EN ISO 6272-1 / ASTM D2794 / TS EN 13523-5
  • Drop Weight (Impact) Test

It covers the assessment of the resistance of paint, varnish or related product coating to cracking and/or separation from a metal or plastic base material when a given weight is dropped from a certain height. The drop weight (impact) test covers the evaluation of the coating's resistance to cracking or separation from the base material by dropping a weight, under standard conditions, to a paint, varnish or related product within the scope of the large area mark remover standard.

  • TS EN ISO 1520 / TS EN 13523-6
  • Submersion (Cupping-Cupping) Experiment

Specifies a test procedure to determine the resistance of the coating to cracking and/or separation from the base material when subject to gradual destruction by precipitation of a paint, varnish or related product coating under standard conditions.

  • TS EN ISO 1519 / ASTM D522
  • Bending Test (Conical or Cylindrical)

It covers the assessment of the coating's resistance to cracking and/or separation from a metal or plastic base material when subjected to bending around a cylindrical mandrel under standard conditions.

  • TS 6037 EN ISO 2815
  • Buchholz Subduction Experiment

It covers the penetration test of a single or multiple coat of paint, varnish or related product coating using a Buchholz Penetration tool. The penetration length resulting from the application of this method is an indicator of permanent deformation of the coating.

  • TS EN 13523-4 / ASTM D3363
  • Pencil Hardness Test

This experiment covers the method of determining the hardness of an organic coating on a metallic substrate with pencils of known hardness. Flat surfaces give more accurate results, but the method can also be applied to textured surfaces. Working range is according to pencil hardness.

  • Soft pencils: HB, B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B
  • Hard pencils: F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H

  • TS EN ISO 1518-1 / TS EN 13523-12
  • Scratch Experiment

It covers the measurement of the scratch resistance of single-coat or multi-coat paint, varnish and their related materials under specified conditions with a known weight.

  • TS 4318 EN ISO 2813 / ASTM D523 / TS EN 13523-2
  • DIN 11664-4 / ISO 7668 /
  • Brightness and Color Measurement Experiment

It covers the determination of angular gloss of non-metallic paint films using reflectometer (reflectometer) geometries of 20°, 60° and 85°. With the help of color spectrophotometer, color L, a, b values are measured and ∆E color change is found.

  • TS EN ISO 7784-2 / EN ISO 9352
  • Abrasion Test (Taber Method)

The wear value is found as g/m2 by subjecting it to wear by the weights attached to the right and left arm according to the test request, on the round test plate on the disc rotating at a certain speed and number.

  • TS EN ISO 1522 / ASTM D4366
  • Pendulum Hardness Test

With the help of the pendulum, the oscillation on the surface of the part is determined in sec, and the surface hardness value is determined.

  • TS 3179 EN ISO 2177
  • Measuring Metallic Coating Thickness - Anode Dissolved Coulometric Method
