Applications made to reduce the heat transfer between two environments with different temperatures are called thermal insulation (sheathing). Thanks to the insulation, heat losses in winter and heat increases in summer are prevented, and the use of coal and natural gas in winter and electricity in summer are minimized. Heat insulation is applied to the facades, roofs, floors and windows of the buildings.
In simple terms, the processes carried out to warm up or cool down the building occupants using less energy and to reduce the heat transfer between comfortable living spaces and uncomfortable temperatures are called thermal insulation.
One of the most common mistakes when it comes to insulation is thinking that heat loss comes from roofs and windows only. However, most of the heat loss in a building occurs through the outer walls, which are considered the largest surface area of the building. For a sustainable saving, the most effective method is to renew the windows, to insulate the attic, as well as to have thermal insulation (sheathing) on the exterior.
